This workshop will present a solid overview of affirming treatment approaches for gender diverse adolescents and adults. Content includes key terminology and concepts, medical and surgical treatment options, co-occurring mental health conditions, cardiovascular health, cancer screenings, and sexual health, as well as specific content on dosing and lab protocols for prescribing hormone therapy. Behavioral Health clinicians will gain insight into the benefits of collaborating with medical providers to support client well-being.


Learning objectives:   
--Identify best practices in performing history-taking, sexual risk assessment, and physical exam techniques with Transgender and Nonbinary patients
--Explore the basic principles of treating gender dysphoria, including how to treat and manage masculinizing and feminizing medical transition
--Integrate knowledge and prepare to counsel gender diverse patients about preventive care, fertility concerns, and gender affirming surgical options
